"A woman giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come; but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born into the world." John 16:21
No words could better describe the situation Jenette faced today. Jenna Molly Clay joined our bustling family today at 1:00 PM. She was 20.5 inches long and weighed 6 lbs 8 ozs. See the posts below for a few pictures. I'll try to post more pictures in the next few days.
Pain and joy. Lots of waiting...for pain and joy. Some people think that Jenette just kind of delivers and it's no big deal, but I can tell you - it was very difficult and very painful for her.
But as difficult and painful it was, our joy is even greater. When Jesus said those words he was talking to his disciples of his upcoming death and resurrection. He knew that they would mourn with extreme anguish. In fact, the verse before says that they would weep and mourn while the world rejoices. They would grieve - but their grief would turn to joy.
That is our great hope - as the disciples mourning over Jesus death turned to joy over Jesus resurrection - as the mother's great pain and anguish turns to joy as she sees her newborn for the first time - "...our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all." 2 Corinthians 4:17
